Event: Police Local engagement day

After putting on session at Welshpool Leisure centre for a stag party, the leisure centre put a video clip of this session on their Facebook page. The video had over 500 views in 2 hours (and loads of likes, obviously!) and one of those views was from PC Lindsay Sweetman.
Lindsay got in touch as she could see the appeal to children and young adults which was just what she was looking for. She was planning to put on an event in Welshpool which would attract local children for a few hours of activities so that Lindsay and colleagues could interact and get on with the local children from 11-18. They were looking to be seen on a more down to earth level getting away from the children's usual view of them in uniform.
This sounded like a really good idea in plan and turned out to be in practice. With the local leisure centre booked again, some food, drink, bubble football and play/interaction with the local children on the Easter holidays, the event proved a real success. Lindsay was pleased with the results as there was a good turn out and "The children loved the bubbles".Advertising the bubbles did a great job of attracting the young people to the event. The Police staff then did the job of chatting to the kids being careful not to knock too many over with the bubbles!
This is the second time we have helped Lindsay and the team with this event and hopefully it will grow again for next year. Photos below:

Event: Trefeglwys Village fair
Contact: Jackie Maginnis

Trefeglwys is a rural village in Powys, and every year at the start of August all the residents have a one great big reason to all meet up. The village fete! 800-900 people attend each year to sample the delights of a classic British village fair. Think cake competitions, any kind of vegetable you can think of competitions, great food, livestock, lots of games for the children, and even the local sheep sheering finals!
Jackie's committee colleague Ffion was looking for something that would be a lot of fun and very visual, as they had a prime slot to fill right in the middle of the field, amongst all these other activities. After searching on Google, Ffion sent over and enquiry, and we were on the phone to find out more.
After talking our activity through with the fair organisers, the plan was to have a number of pre-arranged adult matches between groups from around the village for the first half of the booking, with a free turn for all children planned for the second half of the booking. This, we all felt would be the best way of getting the most out of our time there, getting as many involved as we could, while also providing a good spectacle from the onlookers into "the ring!"
I must say it was a lovely drive into Wales with some great views. We got there with plenty of time to spare, and after we had set up it gave us time to have a wonder round the classic village fair attractions. "They don't make 'em like that any more". Well they do! This one! Have a look at our pictures below to get a flavour of the day.
Now I'm not going to pretend the weather was perfect. Far from it! Showers were on and off, but hey the show very much went on as the games went on, competitively fought and the youngsters absolutely loved it afterwards-we couldn't get away! All in all it was a great day, and it was amazing to bring this new activity to such a wonderfully traditional event. See you again next year!
Date: 6th June 2015
Event: Junior Football team presentation day

After putting on a private party for one of the boys who played for SAHA football club in Shrewsbury, the birthday boy and pals all loved it (of course!) and our details were passed to Liz who heads up SAHA football cub based in Shrewsbury. SAHA run 20 teams from Under 5's to Under 16's for both girls and boys, with over 350 young players on their books.
Liz had us in mind for their end of season presentation day on the 6th of June. It was shaping up to be a great event. Picture it:
-The local village hall hired out with a good size piece of grass (for us to do our thing!)
-350+ young players with their parents and family
-Entertainment: Bubble Football!
Each team had a time allocation slot from 13.30-16.45 to come along to their presentation and have their team photo inside, have their awards handed out and stay for some food, drinks and a good bit of socialising outside in the sunshine. Our inclusion was to look after all the young players when the parents and family were doing all their adults talking!
What a great time they had too! We were able to look after all the age groups right through the 20 teams. There were 10 bubbles and we offered a 10 minute turn for each child to run around and have a ball.
It was a fantastic day and we are currently working on a date for 2016 to make their presentation day a success this year too. - See our photos below.
